This project involves the construction of a swimming pool above an underground car park. Due to this unique combination, reliable waterproofing of the concrete structure is crucial. Water infiltration could affect both the car park below and the service life of the entire structure.
PENETRON Benelux provided on-site support during the concrete pour and monitored the correct dosage, addition and application of the waterproofing product.
The project was carried out in collaboration with Terraq Betonmortel, BetoLinQ and Burgland Bouw.
Products used
For the integral waterproofing of the concrete structure, PENETRON ADMIX SB was added directly to the concrete mix. The product forms an insoluble crystalline structure that seals pores, capillaries and fine cracks.
Upon contact with moisture, the crystalline action is reactivated. This provides the concrete with a durable self-healing capacity and protects the structure against water ingress and hydrostatic pressure.
Because the waterproofing becomes an integral part of the concrete, separate membranes or external waterproofing layers are not required.
