Brookings Biogas RNG Plant
UGI Energy Services (UGIES), a subsidiary of UGI, a company focused on distributing natural gas and electricity, is part of MBL Bioenergy, a joint venture with Sevana Bioenergy and a subsidiary of California Bioenergy (CalBio). MBL Bioenergy is developing three clusters of projects for converting dairy farm waste to renewable natural gas (RNG) in South Dakota. The Brookings Biogas RNG facility is located near three farms near Estelline, South Dakota. At full capacity, the facility is designed to generate approximately 300 million cubic feet of RNG annually.

Products used
As part of the collaboration, Penetron provided the necessary test data to Poet Design & Construction and Brooks Construction to confirm the 1% dosage rate for PENETRON ADMIX SB, a crystalline waterproofing additive. The additive was supplied in pre-measured soluble bags and added to the mixture during the mixing phase to treat approximately 2,000 cubic metres of concrete for the fermentation tanks.
After adding to the concrete mix, PENETRON ADMIX SB reduces the permeability of the concrete, increases the chemical resistance and makes it possible to self-seal any new or future hairline cracks. This increases the durability and extends the life of the Brookings facility's concrete fermentation tanks.
