Wavegarden Lagoon
Developed by Wavegarden SL, an engineering company, the Praia da Grama surf pool mimics a beach environment far from the coast and is the world's first private beach in an enclosed community. The patented Wavegarden technology consists of a unique hydrodynamic wavefoil powered by a gearless drive system (similar to a ski lift), an electronic control system and an integrated water treatment plant. Under the lagoon and the wave-generating machines, there is a reinforced concrete basin.
Products used
PENETRON ADMIX, which can be easily mixed during the concrete mixing process, was used to treat 9,000 m³ (11,800 yds³) of concrete for the golf pool. In addition, 1,290 metres (4,300 ft) of PENEBAR SW-55 swellable waterproofing strips were installed to seal the structural joints.
