Mar de Cortes Aquarium
The Mar de Cortés Aquarium will showcase local marine flora and fauna as well as marine ecosystems outside of Mexico. With a main tank containing 5 million gallons (1.32 million gallons) of water and numerous smaller tanks and open pools, it will be the largest aquarium in Latin America and one of the largest in the world.

The total volume of concrete required for the construction of the aquarium was approximately 28,000 m³ (33,500 cubic yards). CEMEX Concretos, a Penetron partner, supplied two special types of concrete for the project's tanks and pools. PENETRON ADMIX was added to the DURAMAX concrete mix to give the mixture self-healing, permeable properties. APARENTIA is an architectural concrete that eliminates the need for coatings to significantly reduce future maintenance; this has also been treated with PENETRON ADMIX for improved durability and watertightness.
