First collaboration: Penetron × UrbanMine — circular concrete with crystalline protection

About UrbanMine

UrbanMine, based in the Netherlands, is an innovative manufacturer of 100% circular concrete. The company recovers raw materials from demolition debris using patented technologies such as the SmartCrusher and Smart Liberator, which convert old concrete back into high-quality raw materials. Thanks to this process, UrbanMine achieves a CO₂ reduction of up to 80% compared to conventional concrete.

Their production runs on solar energy, rainwater is reused in the process, and they deliver emission-free circular concrete mixtures via mobile concrete installations. In addition to concrete production, UrbanMine also develops prefab elements such as quay walls, concrete wells and slabs under the Smart Circular Products label.

The collaboration with Penetron

For the Bunge project in Amsterdam, Penetron Admix was chosen as a crystalline concrete additive within UrbanMine's circular concrete mixtures. The addition of Penetron Admix ensures active waterproofing from inside the concrete, protection against moisture, chlorides and carbonation, and a structural extension of the life of the circular concrete.

This collaboration proves that circular construction and high-quality concrete protection can go hand in hand perfectly. Penetron Benelux and UrbanMine share the same vision: sustainable construction without sacrificing quality or technical performance.

The first joint application at the Bunge project in Amsterdam (HoogTij) marks an important milestone. It shows that sustainable concrete production and crystalline technology reinforce each other in practice.
